Colour explosion!

Hannah Fisher & Simon Penson

Normanton Park
Hotel, Rutland Water
Saturday,13th June, 2009

Hannah and Simon were born in the same hospital and grew up in neighbouring villages. “My father taught Simon to drive and I had seen him in the car and asked dad to put in a good word for me. Dad’s subtlety isn’t his forté and he told him outright that his daughter had a soft spot for him. We had always dreamt of travelling to New York and booked a trip after being together for seven years. Si pulled out a dazzling diamond on the top of the Empire State Building and got down on one knee. I couldn’t stop crying tears of joy!”

The wedding fashion…

“The bodice of my dress was by Berketex Bride (berketexbride.com). My mum made a skirt for the day and another one for the evening do!” The groom’s suit was by Aquascutum (aquascutum.com).

The venue…

“We had the ceremony and reception at Normanton Park Hotel, Rutland Water. We also chartered a boat for a few hours in the afternoon to break up the day and for the speeches. Si’s an angler and loves to be by the water and I used to cycle around Rutland Water when I was a little girl so we both knew where we wanted to get married.”

Special details…

“We’re bubbly characters who avoid black at all costs so it was essential that our wedding was colourful. I’m also renowned for wearing pink with everything!” says Hannah. The hand-tied bouquet was made by Hannah’s mum. “It had beads, buttons and brooches in from my late grandmother and Simon’s nanny who passed away a few years after we got together. This meant that they could be with us on our special day.” Elsewhere, bright pink and orange gerberas with seagrass were used to add splashes of colour. The cake was mini fruit cakes made by Simon’s aunty!
