Jonathan had been enjoying a ‘no girls aloud’ night out when he met Lucy on the dancefloor: “both of us wanted to be single at the time, but we got talking that night and never left each other’s side from that point on. You know what they say, when you stop looking..!” remembers Lucy. The couple moved in together three months later and Jonathan proposed on their first anniversary during a romantic weekend in Prague. May 24th was picked for the wedding as it was a bank holiday when the sun usually shone!

Lucy found her stunning strappy Alfred Angelo dress (alfredangelo.com) at Divine Bride in Chelmsford (divinebride.co.uk). “it was the only one that made my mum cry!” she remembers. “I then bought my shoes online from BHS, while my pearl bracelet was found in a small boutique and the pearl necklace was borrowed from my mum.”
The groom’s suit was handmade by a tailor in Savile Row called William Westmancott (williamwestmancott.com) and the shoes were from a label called ‘Ask The Missus’!
The couple married and then had their reception at the De Vere Dunstan Hall, near Norwich. “This is somewhere that my family has had birthdays and anniversarys at so I knew it was lovely,” explains Lucy. “It’s the view of the building as you drive up to it that really impresses me every time, it’s so beautiful. We kept the colour scheme quite low key and subtle, but pink was the theme, all different shades. It’s much easier than having to find the exact shade for everything!”
“This was quite a basic three-tiered chocolate cake with slightly different shades of pink on each layer. We then had our florist Shirley Cheung (eternalbloom-chelmsford.co.uk) decorate the cake with fresh gerberas and she also sprinkled rose petals around the cake table.”
To co-ordinate with the pink theme, Lucy chose peonies and bright pink gerberas in a hand-tied bouquet. “I also had some freesias, as they are my mum’s favourite and smell yummy!”
“We had a DJ from Norwich Artists (norwichartistes.co.uk) and also hired a table magician from them who went round inbetween the wedding breakfast and reception. This then gave us the chance to walk round the grounds with our photographer and have some time to ourselves without the guests getting bored,” says Lucy.
