Honeymoon - round the world trip!

We wanted a bit of a beach holiday and a bit of a city break – both in places where we hadn’t been before, hence Fiji and Hong Kong plus we wanted to go back to Syndey as that was where our relationship blossomed! (We met in Manchester 2 weeks before Martin was due to go travelling around the world for a year, kept in touch via email and I decided to fly out to meet him in Sydney after he had been away for 5 months. I ended up staying for 6 months (was only supposed to be 2 weeks!)). Plus we have some friends who live over in Oz and was a good opportunity to catch up with them as they couldn’t make the wedding.

Fiji was spent lazing by our plunge pool on the day bed, swimming, walking, scuba diving, Kava ceremony, eating and drinking champagne.  Sydney – we went to Watsons Bay for fish & chips at Famous Doyles Restaurant, Darling Harbour, Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Botanic Gardens, up the AMP tower, Taronga Zoo, walked from Bondi to Coogee, wine tour to the Hunter Valley, reminiscing in Balmain where we lived for 3 months. Hong Kong was mainly pounding the streets taking in all the different sights, we went up to Victorias Peak on the tram, we took the Star Ferry to Kowloon, enjoyed the excellent spa facilities at our hotel and shopped of course!

  • Fiji – 5 nights at Likuliku Resort then one night at the Sheraton on Nadi.
  • Sydney – 5 nights at Establishment Hotel in the CBD
  • Hong Kong- 2 nights at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental

Most romantic moment

In Fiji, my husband arranging a surprise speedboat trip to a sandbar in the middle of the sea with a champagne picnic and being left on our own to enjoy for a couple of hours.

Fiji was great for honeymooners because it is pure paradise and the resort we stayed at was adults only. The service was outstanding and you were made to feel so at home by everybody. It was a fabulous place to relax after all the organizing/stress involved with the wedding.

We chose SendUsPacking because we lived together for a few years before getting married so we didn’t need any pots or pans or bed linen! We really wanted to have the holiday of a lifetime for our honeymoon and send us packing was the ideal way to let our family and friends contribute to this. Rather than just give us money, we loved the fact that our guest could buy specific experiences for us. It made it much more personal. Plus the website was really easy to use for our guests and easy to set up.
